An etymology exploration tool that visualises how words are connected across languages through their shared Proto-Indo-European roots.
How it works
Type a word and hit Search. The app looks up its etymology on Wiktionary, finds the reconstructed PIE root, and draws a tree of related words (cognates) across dozens of ancient and modern languages.

Tips
Click any node to see details and a Wiktionary link.
Use the branch filter (bottom-left) to show or hide language families.
Scroll to zoom, drag to pan the tree.
💻 Best viewed on a desktop or tablet — etymology trees can grow large and need room to pan and zoom, so a phone screen feels cramped.
